droooool

I want some of these to put in our lobby so bad I can feel the static.

Wouldn’t 2 of these look bad to the bone hung up in there?

The answer is yes. Yes they would.

So That’s What’s in the Air.

Meet the new MacBook Air. So thin it fits into a manila envelope. Starting Price $1799.

Are you willing to pay $700 bucks more for the size difference?

Does size matter that much?

3 Macs deep

Bang.

Bang.

Bang!

We got our 2 new MacBooks in today. I get to set them up and install everything (it’s one of my favorite things to do). So even if it was just for a few hours, I was rollin’ 3 macs deep on my desk.

Heaven.

what the heck am I doing here?

Some of you have no idea what the heck I do at RidgePoint. That’s OK…it took me a really long time to figure it out myself. Lots of people think I am the secretary, and while that is a very important and fun job, that is not what I do.

My title is “Programming Director.” Gee, that’s helpful, isn’t it?

Here’s what I do in a nutshell: I create a worship experience. Well, actually my team does. I do walk-throughs of the Sanctuary and make sure things look like they should. I talk with Timm and Justin and try and get them things that they need. I help with music stuff, I co-ordinate the lighting, my team runs the lyrics you see so you can sing with us, and they help the band and Timm. So with me overseeing stuff and my team busting their butts, we try to create a worship experience for you so you can come in, relax, and focus on God.

Pretty cool, huh?

There’s a guy named Los Whittaker who does this for Buckhead Church in Georgia, and he’s a lot better at it than I am. I’ve been reading his blog and studying him, hoping to learn a thing or two. He posted the following video today…it’s the opening of a service at his church. I am blown away, my jaw dropped when I saw it. It is so beautifully done, so classy, so moving. It made me want to quit! (Kidding)

Anyway, turn your volume up and check it out. It might make you uncomfortable.

this is me at 9:30 on Friday morning

notice the wet hair. the granny sweater. the angry glare.

on the phone with apple. we got a new web server, which means I got a new e-mail account. long story short, when I added the new account it freakin’ deleted my inbox from the old account. data from months of e-mail conversations. i am perturbed. also upsetting…the new website is up and half of the content i’ve been working on for weeks isn’t showing up. i can’t get into to edit it b/c my password isn’t working. i can’t get them to e-mail me my password, because my e-mail isn’t working.

gah.

***Update***

It only took a few hours to get everything straightened out. E-mails are up and running, the website up with content, but still needs some kinks worked out. I’m in a much better mood.

OK RidgePoint-ers…

If you read my blog, you’ll be the very first to know that on Sunday, September 16th, we will debut our brand-spanking new website! You might not care, because you already come to RidgePoint, and there’s really no reason for you to be on the website (except to listen to new sermons according to my stats). But, the coolest part about our new website is that it will feature online giving! You can schedule your tithe to automatically come out of your checking account on whatever date is best for you (weekly, monthly, daily…).

We know that it’s a pain in the butt for you to carry your checkbooks around, so we had some options: a) Put an ATM in the foyer. While that seems like an OK plan, some might think we are greedy and/or tacky. So we went with option b, which is online giving. Now, I know not everyone is super-awesome at computers (like myself [har har]), so on September 16th and 23rd, we will have 3 computers set up in the sanctuary where you can explore the new website and sign up for online giving. There will be trained professionals standing by to help you, so if you aren’t so computer savvy, there is no need to fear. They will help you navigate the website, show you how to download sermons and how to subscribe to our podcast, and they’ll help you set up an online giving account. Pretty cool, eh?

I’m excited. Don’t miss it :)
