Controversy Friday

http://www.freemosquitoringtones.org/

Some genius invented these free ring tones that you can hear based on your age.

Yeah, you read that right.

They have some that are only audible to kids 18 and under, meaning kids can have cell phones in school and hear their ring– but their teachers can’t.

Mike and I tried all the ring tones last night and we can only hear the ones for age 30 and up.

According to the news story, teachers were advised to “watch for disruptions” in the classroom that might indicate someone’s cell phone is ringing.

Sucks for the teachers, but I think it’s kind of hysterical.

Make sure you go to the website and see for yourself…

Controversy Friday

Gardasil

New results are out about the controversial cervical cancer vaccine.

As of June 30, 2008, there have been 9,749 Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) reports of adverse events following Gardasil vaccination.  Of these, 6 percent were deemed serious.   The adverse event reports included 20 deaths, as well as reports of a rare neurological condition called Guillain-Barré Syndrome.

Geez guys. I don’t know much about medicine, but that sounds bad to me.

In 3’s.

They say bad things happen in 3’s.

That might be true.

But some weird stuff happens in 3’s too. Like, everyone close to me sneezes in 3’s. In particular, my husband and my momma. And one of my co-workers. I mean, what kind of weirdo are you that you sneeze 3 TIMES, EVERY TIME?!

I guess that’s my controversy for today.
‘Cause I forgot to find a real, world changing, interesting one.
And it’s 8:43 PM.

Are you a person who sneezes in 3’s or do you know someone that does?

Strip2Clothe

Virgin Mobile is doing this Blank2Clothe campaign, you fill in the blank with whatever you want to do: “Skydive2Clothe, Yodel2Clothe, Bark2Clothe, or Contort2Clothe,” etc. They’re making donations based on texting and number of videos watched, etc. Well, some people are doing “strip2clothe” and submitting videos of themselves stripping.

Some of them are 14 year old girls.

Virgin Mobile must’ve taken them down, ’cause I can’t find them anymore, but I saw them.

It was disturbing.

You can see when I search “blank2clothe” the original url was strip2clothe, so you know I’m not making this up.

Interesting.

MTV is remaking the cult classic: The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Are you kidding me?! NO ONE will every be better than Tim Curry.

NO ONE.

They are going to butcher it. I can’t stand the thought of it.

I saw this movie as a teenager and it’s been one of my favorites ever since. I can’t imagine MTV ruining it. They are even writing new music for it! WHAT!? Blasphemy.

What do you guys think?

Controversy Fridays

Hey guys, it’s that time again. One of my readers (who happens to be one of my favorite people in the world) sent me this article for Controversy Friday. She said it disturbed her and I’d have to agree…it’s pretty crazy. You can click here if you want to try and find the original article, but I copied and pasted it in here just in case the link doesn’t work anymore.

Local woman sells soul on eBay
7/6/2008 10:39 PM
By: Heidi Zhou

Carrie Crain said she’s not sure on the return policy of her soul.
DRIPPING SPRINGS — Carrie Crain’s soul is for sale on eBay and the starting bid is $1,000.

“Whoever bids on my soul, they need to take it seriously,” she said. “I hope I transfer all my good, positive energy to them, and they will do great things. That’s what I hope … transfer my creativity to them,” she said.

That creativity is what got 33-year-old Crain to this point. She’s working on a screenplay about a woman who sells her soul on eBay, too.

“I decided to really get into the heroine’s mind. I had to do it,” Crain said.

Crain calls it research, but her husband, Garry, calls it a little nuts.

“I don’t know if she wrote a murder we’d get the gun out and shoot somebody, which of course would never happen,” he said.

Garry is used to his wife’s originality and he’ll help her with the technical stuff.

“Transferring title may be difficult,” he said.

Crain has that and plenty of other difficult questions to answer, like will she get a new soul? Is there a warranty? And what’s her return policy? Those inquiries sit in her e-mail box.

Soul for sale

eBay has officially seen it all. Carrie Crain recently placed her soul up for auction.

Despite the talk, no one has yet put down a bid.

“Maybe they’re waiting until the last minute,” Crain said.

Bidding for Crain’s soul ends Wednesday. The winning bidder will receive Crain’s soul inside a Magic 8 Ball she’s had since fifth grade. They’ll also get a certificate of spiritual authenticity.

Crap. What do you guys make of this? Is she crazy? Is she messing with something that she has no business getting into? Is it even possible to do this?

Would anyone even buy it?!

Discuss.

just for fun. let’s talk about some controversial stuff.

let’s start with facial piercings. (oooooh, ahhhhh)

this is my “it’s too early for blog pictures” pose

’cause I have a nose ring, but nobody seems to notice it.

and I’d love to get my lip pierced, but I’m pretty sure everyone would notice it.

so what do you think? love ‘em? hate ‘em? Do you wish you would’ve gotten one, or that you hadn’t gotten one?

and uh, i’m going to go out on a limb and say that tongue piercings count for this post.
