You ladies know what I’m talking about. SWIM SUIT SEASON!

cue: climactic moment music DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUN.

Yes, it is coming around the mountain faster than you can say, “crap, i wish I hadn’t eaten that frosty!” I had a plan to loose a few pounds before I tried to squeeze myself into a suit (just kidding), but that isn’t going to happen for a few reasons.

1. I am lazy.
2. I am not fat enough that I am bothered by the fact that I am getting fatter. Think about that.
3. My ankle might be injured.

So here’s what I want to know from THE LADIES: what type of suit do you wear and why? Here’s what Target is offering as options: triangle bikini, bandeau binkini, monokini, whole piece, the thing with the little skirt, tankini.

Here’s what I want to know from THE GUYS: do you really care what kind of bathing suit a chick wears? elaborate.

Talk to me.

    Yes. To does it matter.

    No. To elaboration.

    Wimps.

    The key is variety.

(In styles. What do you think I meant?)

American men wear one style. We’re lazy. And we’re not European. Thank god Speedos aren’t sold in Target.

Women have options and they should take them. As a husband I’ve always said “purchase one of each.”

Of course, each style has its areas to emphasize and areas to hide. So, most women find a style they think shows off and hides as appropriate.

And that’s why I’ve memorized, “That was the perfect choice.”

    Did that answer your question?

I’m really into J Crew bathing suits right now. They’re actually somewhat affordable. I like the bandeau top (no annoying visible tan lines) and the hipster bottoms.

Travis and James: you are total wimps!
Chuck: Thank you :) That was very PC.
Emily: is it appropriate for married women to wear stuff like that?

    I personally don’t care.
I tan my fat, and think women should have the same option.
Even the lovely ladies on the link.
The media is ruining everyones fun, summer, and lives.
    Wear what you want.

I am not surprised one bit that Trav answered first!!! Since he refused to elaborate, then I shall for him! Sorry Trav….you bailed. He is very opinionated when it comes to what I choose to wear come bathing suit season. He gets extremely nervous if I show any interest in anything that even looks like a one piece!!!! That was all fine and dandy BK (before kids)….but I feel I need to protect the world from the battle scars of 2 kids. It is definitely an issue for us and I am sure he has the perfect 2 piece for me, the problem being I would have to go to Rio to wear it legally. The only promise I make him is no skirt.

However…if I get in to suitable shape (ha, ha) before our summer trip to a remote island, I might don a 2 piece……YIKES!!!!

That’s a good word KFJ. I have an opposite situation: I’m pretty sure Mike doesn’t want me to show anything. PS You look amazing, don’t try to deny it.

Well, we had the option of going to the beach with some Tuba friends of Tims recently… they all have skinny little college girls as girlfriends, so I tried on some of my old suits to see if I would even be seen in public in them. I would have said no-freakin-way… but Tim loved them.

They were all two piece, and maybe Tim just thinks the extra around my waste doesn’t look bad in that cut and style, but I felt self-conscious. He’d never ask me to go out in anything I didn’t feel good in and offered to take me shopping for a new one so I’d feel better, but luckily the trip was canceled. I know he’d love to still see me in a two piece, but I’m just not sure I want or can pull it off like I did when I was layin out by the pool at FSC. Plus, I cared about tanning my stomach because I wore shirts that would show a little bit of my belly… and I certainly don’t do that anymore either.

I’ve been looking at those “one-piece” things with the cut out shapes. I think they have a good balance of being sexy, and young, but still have a little more to it than my belly just hanging out for all to see. I liked this one, and think you’d look amazing in black… http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=sc_pfb_r_3_0_13629631/601-4871930-3272938?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000WLYJR2

I would have to agree with Michael… The media makes everyone crazy! Listen, nobody is happy with the body they have— too skinny, too fat, too white, too old, too many babies… Girls should unite! I have seen tons of guys who didnt exactly look hot in a suit and guess what it didnt bother them! Ladies should quit worrying about what everyone eles thinks. I personally would not wear a 2 peice outside the boundaries of my privacy fence (way too much body going on for that little bit of fabric) but let me tell ya 15 years ago I had it going on and didnt care! Anyways, that was a long time ago and I was a lot younger and a whole bunch wilder in those days!(another story for a different day) But now I settle for the ole 1 peice and dawn matching shorts usually. The way I see it, I have a LOT of curves as in there is a whole lot to love going on over here. I dont really worry about getting ready for swimsuit season— my beauty shines from the inside to the outside and why should I give a dern about what the media thinks or anyone else for that matter— outward beauty is fleeting! So, girls need to hold up there heads high and be proud of who they are and what the good Lord blessed them with! The only other thing I can think of is that just because you may be a curvy girl, that doesnt mean that you are second best! I have been self conscious for way too long— that all ended when I worked up the nerve to go inside the gym to get a membership! Cool thing is that I am not there so I can get my 20 year old body back, but to make my nearly 40 year old body healthier! ;)

Wow I can’t agree more with Tammy. I’ve made myself miserable my whole life, b/c all my friends looked like “Twiggy” from the 60’s. So I’m all about loving yourself (even if you have to remind yourself sometiems) and just wear what you want. If you are going to the beach, chances are, you aren’t going to see those people again anyways, so who cares. Just be yourself and do what makes you happy. Beauty comes from the inside and you feel comfortable and confident, everyone else can’t help but notice and they won’t care what you are wearing.

I found this one piece at Wal-mart (my store)that has extra material in the middle so it hides my extra baggage/spare tire and then I put a wrap around my waste to hide my hips, but I feel pretty in it and it works for me. It’s like this one, but it’s not a halter top and it’s different colors. but you get the idea.

Does a two piece still count as sexy when the top meets the bottom so no baby fat shows? :-)
